About Us
Here's a quick glimpse.
Covenant
Presbyterian Church is a newer congregation of the Presbyterian
Church in America, the PCA.
We are a grace oriented and bible
believing church that seeks to honor God and love people
by ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ in the Daphne,
Spanish Fort, Fairhope and Eastern
Shore
area.
We believe the Bible
is God’s message to mankind. Therefore it is the final
authority for all we believe and do. We believe it is to be
believed and practiced in everyday life because it is relevant
to all issues of life.
By the grace of God,
we strive for a public, corporate worship service that
glorifies God, exhorts believers and uplifts all present. Our
worship, rich with the creeds and liturgy of the ancient
church, does not seek to take the worshiper by surprise or
cause an experience of the unknown, but rather to achieve an
encounter with God. Furthermore, we seek to make our worship:
· Relevant - bridges
the traditions of the past to the context of the 21st century
worshiper
· Experiential -
addresses the mind, will and emotions
· Participatory - demands active
involvement and appropriate response from the worshiper
Our goal is to offer authentic worship - in "spirit and truth" with "reverence and awe" - wherein the transcendent, imminent, Triune God is experienced by the worshiper in every part of his/her being. We practice the singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Col 3:16). We believe it's clear that the truth of God's Word is what should comprise the substance of our singing (Ps 119:54, 72). For this reason, we draw upon the rich tradition of Christian hymnody as well as more contemporary scripture songs that faithfully convey the truths of God.
